These last 48 hours have been nothing short of dramatic. This past Monday, we marked the half-decade milestone of the PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles with a competition to determine the top exclusive title of this hardware cycle. We presented eight PlayStation 5 titles and eight Xbox Series X exclusives to face off against each other, all heading towards a final showdown where the top game from each platform would battle it out. There have been some nail-biting finishes in the initial matchups, especially yesterday’s razor-thin votes. At this point, it's moment to decide the leading PlayStation and Xbox titles before Thursday’s final battle.

The PS5 Side

On the PS5 side, we have the giant-slayer, Astro Bot. Perhaps it's expected given that it won top honors at the previous year's gaming accolades, but its win against God of War Ragnarök seems like a major shock. But to get to the finals, it'll need to defeat the MVP of the PS5 generation: the acclaimed developer. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 enjoyed an easy journey to the final four, leaping past Ghost of Yōtei and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (another Insomniac game!) to land in the semi-finals. Can Spidey topple a beloved PlayStation icon, or is he destined to become a miniature appearance in the upcoming Astro Bot title?

The Xbox Series X Side

For Xbox Series X has been more exciting. Emerging victorious from a more eclectic field of competitors is Forza Horizon 5. It's a big victory for the open-world driving game already, proving that a niche category title deserves to be on the equal footing as traditional jump-and-run games and cinematic action-adventure games. Its last roadblock on the way to the championship is a major challenge, though. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has shown itself as a fan favorite, defeating critical darlings like Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush. Can it beat a larger-scale title from an established IP that's synonymous with the Xbox brand? If anyone can pull that off, it's probably Indy.
