It's a challenge for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the peak baggers, are the only things left for a side that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the possibility.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to deliver her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her bow and seven global championships have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not come up short.

If this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Many contend the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm whatsoever," said Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her great strength - and a priceless quality in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point the right-hander was underway.

"The possibility to play and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was dismissed her side required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, should it happen, we believe we can achieve it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this tournament should hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they left last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing despite the injury.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have delayed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
